Attack
Basic Ability
Swift Move 1
7sRanged
Shoots star-shaped rays at opposing Pokémon, dealing damage to them.
Swift is Eevee’s main move for clearing wild Pokémon in the early game.
Swift shoots four stars in the initial direction, one after another. It also has a peculiar mechanic that half of the stars shoot a little to the left and the other half shoot a little to the right.
If you want all four stars to hit, cast it dead center on your target.
Swift will be your move for stealing and securing wild Pokémon so try to hold off on using it when contesting against opposing Pokémon.
Swift Upgrade Options
Mystical Fire
7sDash
Has the user create four small flames while advancing in the designated direction. The flames shoot toward opposing Pokémon one by one, dealing damage and decreasing the opposing Pokémon Sp. Atk for a short time when they hit. Each time a flame hits, it reduces the cooldown of this move.
Upgrade: Increases the number of flames by one.
Mystical Fire is a mixture of damage, mobility, and debuff. After dashing with this move, four flames appear on Sylveon, and then it homes on nearby Pokémon, prioritizing opposing Pokémon.
Each flame that successfully hits an enemy decreases this move’s cooldown by one second so use it near wild or opposing Pokémon if possible.
Mystical Fire makes Sylveon so strong against Special Attack-based Pokémon because it decreases the Special Attack of Pokémon that is hit by this move.
Jump on Special Attack-based Pokémon like Pikachu, Alolan Ninetales, Cramorant, or Gardevoir before they are able to use their moves to debuff them, making them deal less damage to your team.
Once upgraded into Mystical Fire+, it gains one more flame, increasing the damage and potentially decreasing the cooldown between casts.
Hyper Voice
5sArea
Unleashes an attack of multiple sound waves that deal damage when they hit. The damage they deal increases the farther the target is from the user. Every time a sound wave hits, the next sound wave’s damage increases.
Upgrade: Increases the number of sound waves by one.
Hyper Voice is Sylveon’s most damaging move. The catch here is that it is cast into a cone that deals multiple instances of damage over time. Sylveon can move during its casting period.
Each successful hit increases the damage of the next hit, making it a potent move against immobile Pokémon, especially defenders. It is also a reliable tool for securing objectives, Drednaw, Rotom, and Zapdos, for the same reason.
Hyper Voice is a bit hard to land consistently against opposing Pokémon with dashes because they would simply have to dash away from the voice cone in order to avoid the bulk of the damage of this move.
If possible, wait for enemies to be controlled or have their dash moves on cooldown before using Hyper Voice on them.
Once upgraded into Hyper Voice+, the number of sound waves increase by one but the duration of the move does not change. Hence, the damage from each sound wave arrives faster.
You can use the Eject Button to reposition Sylveon while Hyper Voice is active to reach enemies.
Baby-Doll Eyes Move 2
5sRanged
Has the user stare at an opposing Pokémon with its baby-doll eyes, dealing damage and decreasing the opposing Pokémon’s Attack and movement speed for a short time when this move hits.
Baby-Doll Eyes does not deal as much damage as Swift but it applies a debuff to enemies hit.
You can also use it to damage wild Pokémon but the crucial usage of this move is to hit opposing Pokémon when trying to contest wild Pokémon.
Also, hit the enemy’s central laner with Baby-Doll Eyes if they gank to thwart their gank attempt and waste their time.
Baby-Doll Eyes Upgrade Options
Draining Kiss
10sSure Hit
Has the user blow a kiss at an opposing Pokémon that goes back and forth between the user and the opposing Pokémon multiple times. When the kiss touches the user, it restores its HP. When it hits the opposing Pokémon, it deals damage to it and decreases its movement speed for a short time. If the user and the opposing Pokémon move too far away from each other, the kiss will disappear faster than normal.
Upgrade: Increases the amount of HP this move restores.
Draining Kiss is a Sure Hit move that goes back and forth between Sylveon and the target three times. Each time the kiss hits the target, it deals damage and decreases their movement speed and it heals Sylveon each time the kiss goes to it.
Draining Kiss allows Sylveon to maintain its health and distance since it heals and slows enemies. It fits perfectly whether Mystical Fire or Hyper Voice is chosen as the alternate move.
Draining Kiss is best picked over Calm Mind when enemies does not have the capability to burst you down as you would be able to heal yourself then.
Calm Mind
10sBuff
Has the user quietly focus its mind and calm its spirit to increase its Sp. Attack, Sp. Def, and movement speed for a short time.
Upgrade: One time only while using this move, if the user is hit by an opposing Pokémon’s move, the damage is completely nullified and the user is granted a shield.
Calm Mind is a self-buff move that increases the damage output, Sp. Def, and movement speed of Sylveon.
Calm Mind is best picked over Draining Kiss when enemies have dangerous burst damage moves or crowd control so Sylveon can have a better chance of surviving fights.
When paired with Mystical Fire, Sylveon becomes much harder to kill.
When paired with Hyper Voice, its damage becomes 40% more potent.
Once upgraded into Calm Mind+, it negates one move completely and grants Sylveon a shield. This becomes a potent outplay spell once upgraded.
Fairy Frolic Unite Move
Buff
Has the user jump into the air and briefly become invincible. The moment the user lands, it deals damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and restores its own HP. For a short time afterward, a set percentage of damage dealt by the user is converted into HP for the user.
Fairy Frolic is a great outplay tool. It may seem like it is underwhelming at first but it actually brings a lot for Sylveon.
First, once cast, it makes Sylveon dash, granting invincibility and allowing it to jump over walls. The invincibility frame is quite long, it can be used to avoid whole Unite moves.
After landing, enemies are damaged by a bit and Sylveon is healed.
Afterwards, a percentage of healing done by Sylveon is converted into HP, healing Sylveon.
Once Sylveon’s Unite move is available for casting, play more aggressively so you can bait and waste the enemy’s moves with Fairy Frolic.
You can use Eject Button to reposition Sylveon while mid-air.
Sylveon Builds
Here are our Recommended builds on Sylveon
Build Name: Hyper Mind
Move Path
Level 1
Swift
Level 3
Baby-Doll Eyes
Level 4
Hyper Voice
Level 6
Calm Mind
The Hyper Mind build turns Sylveon into an attacker capable of dealing lots of damage from a distance. With this build, enemies would quickly melt thanks to the high damage Hyper Voice, buffed with Calm Mind, can dish out.
Wise Glasses increases the Sp. Attack of its user by a flat and a percentage amount. This will increases the damage output of Hyper Voice by a significant amount to all enemies it hit.
Choice Specs applies additional damage to a move when it hits one enemy. This will increase your burst damage potential against one opposing Pokémon every 8 seconds.
Energy Amplifier increases the charge rate of its user’s Unite move and decreases the cooldown of the moves of its user. Sylveon gets its Unite move early at level 8 and so Energy Amplifier makes sure that it will be able to use its Unite move a lot.
Eject Button is necessary when using this build because Sylveon lacks a mobility move when using this build. Plus, Eject Button can be used to reposition Sylveon while using Hyper Voice or Fairy Frolic.
Build Name: Mystical Kiss
Move Path
Level 1
Swift
Level 3
Baby-Doll Eyes
Level 4
Mystical Fire
Level 6
Draining Kiss
The Mystical Kiss allows Sylveon to have lots of mobility and sustain. It pretty much turns her more like a Sp. Attack all-rounder. This build is also great if the enemy has lots of Sp. Attackers since Mystical Fire reduces the Sp. Attack of enemies it hits.
Muscle Band might seem like a weird pick for a Sp. Attacker but this allows Sylveon to deal consistent damage on high HP enemies and apply its boosted attack on a faster rate. Plus, it allows Sylveon to become viable as a central laner as the bonus damage based on a percentage of the target’s current health from this Held Item makes it possible to clear the central lane fast.
Full Heal removes hindrances and makes its user immune to hindrances for a short while. Since Sylveon would be in the front lines when using this build, it is important to have a panic button that will allow it to escape controls when needed.
Sylveon Gameplay Guide
Sylveon is a mobile attacker that specializes in countering other Sp. Attack based Pokémon. Sylveon is very versatile as it can be built to be extremely mobile skirmishers or a high damaging artillery attacker.
Sylveon may be played at any lane. Sylveon comes online fast whether on the middle lane or the side lanes because it evolves at level 4 and it gets its moves at level 4, 6, and Unite move at level 8.
Eevee is quite weak from levels 1 to 4, you have to level up fast and secure last hits on wild Pokémon using Swift.
Remember to use basic attacks in between moves whenever possible as Sylveon’s passive, Pixilate increases its Sp. Attack and Sp. Def for each hit made or each damage received, stacking up to 6 times.
Whether you’re playing as a side laner or a central laner, make sure to farm as many wild Pokémon as possible and win the Vespiquen fights so you can reach level 8 before the first Drednaw spawn.
What is the role of Sylveon when taking objectives?
Sylveon can either prevent enemy Sp. Attackers from stealing objectives, Drednaw, Rotom, or Zapdos, because Sylveon’s Mystical Fire reduces the Sp. Attack of those it hits. Use the mobility and sustain from the Mystical Kiss build to buy time for your team and damage enemies slowly but constantly before and during the fight. But do not overextend because you would still die if you’re burst down by multiple enemies.
When using the Hyper Mind build, Sylveon is able to deal a lot of damage to the objectives and it is also a fairly reliable build to secure the objectives.
Middle and Late Game
Using the Hyper Mind build
When using the Hyper Mind build, Sylveon should stay behind defenders and supports. Sylveon deals a lot of damage using this build but it lacks mobility so you have to play carefully.
Hyper Voice deals a lot of damage but it can be easily avoided. Try to use it when your allies apply hindrances to squishy speedsters or attackers to burst them down. Calm Mind will mostly be used as a damage buff but it will also save your life a lot of times thanks to its damage nullification and shielding,
Using the Mystical Kiss build
The Mystical Kiss build gives the most value if there are lots of Sp. Attack based Pokémon on the enemy team as Mystical Fire decreases the Sp. Attack of enemies it hit. Jump on the enemy’s Sp. Attackers so you’d be able to debuff them before they do damage to your team.
But do not be carried away, even if Sylveon has good mobility and sustain when using this build, Sylveon is still an attacker and it is still weak against burst damage, especially when the damage is coming from attack based Pokémon. So, if possible, skirmish together with a defender or support. Do not engage on 1v1s if the enemy is not an Sp. Attacker.
When is the best time to use the Fairy Frolic Unite move?
Fairy Frolic is best used when Sylveon is at around half HP.
Once an enemy sees Sylveon at a health level that can be burst down, they would go for an all-in. You have to see this and use Fairy Frolic to avoid their moves.
After avoiding their moves, Fairy Frolic will deal damage to enemies, heal Sylveon, then grant it healing based on damage dealt. These effects will easily turn around a fight that an enemy thinks they already won.
Did You Know?
Sylveon’s ribbon-like feelers emit a soothing aura that disarms hostility, making it able to stop fights. It uses the feelers to distract its victim as it removes the feeling of hostility, catching its victim off guard. It also uses its feelers to wrap around its trainer, allowing it to read their feelings.
